GIR: The Role of Forensic Firms in Monitorships

July 20, 2023

Global use of monitorships has increased significantly during the past decade and developments across the enforcement landscape indicate that we can expect the use of independent monitors to remain an important enforcement tool in multiple jurisdictions. The use of corporate monitors is prominent in the United States government's enforcement regime and is increasingly implemented in the United Kingdom and European regulatory prosecutions as well.

In this Third Edition of Global Investigations Review's "The Guide to Monitorships," Founding Partner Frances McLeod, Partners Jenna Voss and Samantha Hsu, and Director Anushka Ram, updated their chapter "The Role of Forensic Firms in Monitorships," focusing on how forensic firms support a monitor or company through the monitorship process. In the chapter, they touch upon:

  • Leveraging forensic accountants and forensic data analytics
  • Partnering with the right forensic firm
  • Practical examples of forensic accountants in monitorships
  • Audit malpractice
