Cryptocurrency Exchange Collapse Due to Fraud
FRA was retained by external Counsel to represent multiple clients under investigation by the Southern District of New York (SDNY) in connection with the downfall of a prominent cryptocurrency exchange.
Challenge
FRA was retained through outside Counsel on behalf of several clients being investigated by the Southern District of New York (SDNY) relating to the collapse of a major cryptocurrency exchange. Due to the notoriety surrounding this matter, FRA had a short timeframe to expertly capture, load and review the communications and documents of the clients.
Action
FRA’s expert team forensically captured all requested communications and documents, making them available for review on Relativity in a short timeframe. Working closely with outside Counsel and the clients, FRA provided the potentially responsive documents to outside Counsel for subsequent review. FRA’s forensic accountants then reviewed the varied financial holdings of one of the key clients, conducting a flow of funds analysis in both fiat and cryptocurrency.
Result
While this matter remains ongoing, FRA’s rapid and professional response enabled outside Counsel and the clients to quickly respond to the SDNY’s numerous requests. Doing so allowed for ongoing and productive dialogue with the Government.
